TETHERING

There are a lot of reports out there, but wanted you guys to know that rumors of $55 tethering plan on top of an unlimited data plan are false. We’ll have more news to share when the iPhone tethering option is closer to launch.

As Many of you may know Nana and I recently moved to Hobart Indiana. Great town we love the ambiance, the Norman Rockwell Painting feel of the place and surrounding towns. (well maybe not Gary)

I’ve had the most fun trying to get My drivers License and Plates for Both vehicles. First the Indiana BMV requires to see your physical Social Security card. I don’t know about you, but I lost my card with my first wallet back in about 1986. Then Proof of US citizenship (passport, certificate of birth, or other leagal residency paperwork from the INS). Proof of new Address (utility bill etc.. This was normal). My Illinois License and I still had to take the written test again. Now is this just their policy (post 911 and Patriot Act I’m sure), or that they don’t trust Illinois verification?

So After waiting 6 weeks for my Social Security card reissue ( I forget how much $$ that cost ). 8 weeks for my Michigan Birth Certificate which was $35 I was able to persuade the state of Indiana to issue me a Drivers license. The entire endeavor taking about 3.5 months. Now I can finally file for my Tax Abatement on the new house..

So Now the Plates. My Buick is a rebuild flood recovery vehicle, My Uncle gets these quite often. I paid no attention to the Georgia Title, I received with the car, that shown this (rebuilt) status. Illinois apparently didn’t either. They issued me a title without this being stated. But this is just the latest road block.. I first on the day of getting my Drivers license tried to get plates for this car as well. I should say plate as Indiana utilizes only a rear plate, where Illinois uses both front and back plates.

AT&T wants you to buy additional services (of course) why let those who already pay too much for net access on their smart phones actually use it to tether to their notebooks.. well if you buy one of their partners netbooks and pay for a data plan.. as seen with HP’s Mini 1150
